The prefabricated dwelling units, for emergency use or rapid erection in remote areas, esp. of the one-room type, is a parallelpiped entity with flat walls, for folding up, by bellows-type movement, into a compact and readily transportable package. The two larger sidewalls (3, 4; 5, 6) are divided into two halves, hinged together with bellows-type movement down to a horizontal setting on the floor (1), and foldable together inwards with hinges (7, 8) for ceiling (2) storage; and they are hinged to ceiling and floor. The two head walls (17, 18) fold down on ceiling hinges before the sidewalls, to fit flat on the ceiling. Floor and ceiling have a peripheral seamed edging (16) as container for the folded stacked walls. The unit is very compact readily transportable when folded, and can be rapidly erected, affording exceptional climatic comfort.
