PTFE based, high temp. and pressure, flexible hose - esp. for connecting extruding machine to broad slot nozzle

Appts. for the mfr. of articles such as intermediate products in the form of plates, films, profiles and rods from synthetic materials, consists of an extruder, =1 tool with a broad nozzle, and a take-off arrangement. The nozzle is joined to the distributor head of a stationary extruder by a flexible, heatable, high pressure hose., connected by normal unions. The hose is built up from an inner hose of PTFE, a number of load-bearing, braided layers of steel wires, a heat-conducting layer of braided, copper wires, a heat-obstructing and heat-levelling layer of e.g. asbestos, and a multilayered protective jacket of silicone rubber, polyamide and/or steel braiding. The heat-conducting layer forms part of an electrical circuit with a temp. control unit having an actual temp. monitor arranged in the heat-obstructing layer, and including means of adjusting the actual temp. to the operating conditions. Appts. eliminates the need for an expensive layout to reciprocate the complete extruder with the broad slot nozzle, which moves relatively to its cooling and take-off rollers to maintain uniform thickness. A single extruder can be connected to a number of different nozzles and conversely a number of extruders can be connected to one tool producing a multilayer prod. In addn. the hose is heated.
