The coupling has two coupling elements which can rotate relative to each other about a common axis. The first coupling element has severl discrete magnets mounted on a circular ring. Their poles alternate, and the second coupling element has at least first and second elements which lie in the path of magnetic flux generated by the magnets. The first element is opposite to the magnet poles separated from them by a specified air-gap. It consists of a material which interacts with the flux, and transmit between the coupling elements a first constant torque. The second element is made of a material which interacts with the magnetic flux and transmits a second torque component proportional to the difference between the angular velocities of the two coupling elements.
