The electromagnetic pump unit has an axial channel (4) carrying the conducting fluid and a transformer with one primary and two secondaries. Two circuits, each generate an electric current in one part of the fluid in a direction transverse to the channel axis and at right angles to the direction of the electric current. Both circuits are supplied from the secondaries. Each circuit comprises two electromagnet poles one on each side of the channel, an excitation coil and two electrodes on opposite sides of the channel and in series with the coil.
