A paper for a cigarette is in the form of a thin band along an edge of which a very thin uninflammable support is fixed. The support may be glued to the paper in the lengthways direction of a cigarette, and it exposes itself progressively as the cigarette is smoked and consumed, so that the cigarette can be manipulated by it. The paper in the form of a sheet of the normal length and breadth approximately, the support being fixed longitudinally. The support is fixed to one edge of the paper by which it is enclosed. The support may be formed by a thread which is glued to the paper. Support is quite cheap and causes no inconvenience since it is disposed of.
