Discharge system for adsorbent filter - for removing radioactive components in nuclear plant gas streams has inverted conical channel at base of conical filter section
Granular adsorbent material is used in a filter housing to remove components from a gas stream. This is removed from the housing by a device which forms a conveying duct along the base of the filter. The filter consists of a number of perforated inlet and outlet sections mounted across the axis of a rectangular filter housing. The spaces between the sections are filled with granular adsorbant. The housing has a conical section along its base also filled with granular adsorbant. At the bottom apex there runs an inverted conical channel, mounted to allow a narrow clearance between the housing wall and the edge of the channel. Granular material can flow past this and when a conveying gas stream is blown down the channel, the adsorbant is removed. The outlet is of greater size than the gas inlet. Appts. permits removal of the adsorbant without hazard to the operating personnel.
