The portable centrifugal pump has a rotor keyed to the shaft of an electric motor. Plain bearings are lubricated by the liquid handled, and a non-magnetic sleeve forms the seal between the rotor and stator. The stator windings are coated with moulded or injected plastics forming seal in the event of immersion. The pump body and motor casing can be enclosed by a stirrup serving as a carrying handle. There can be a drain plug in the base of the rotor chamber.
