Twin stylus chart recorder - operates with magnetic device permitting cross-over of styli and lifts first stylus over second stylus

A chart recorder operates with two styli moving along the same record line (17) transverse to the direction (X) of continuous drive of the chart paper (2). The pair of styli are carried on respective arms which pivot on transverse guide rods (8) along which they may slide during recording. To enable the styli to pass each other, a pair of magnets (30) are located one on each arm with like poles facing each other. In this way as the styli cross each other, magnetic forces drive one stylus (12) into a raised position (13) so it may cross the lower stylus.
