Double slip-ring assembly for electrical machines - uses rings of differing dia. fitted onto stepped core

A slip ring assembly is designed for use in electrical machines with take off brushes. It is used esp. in vehicle generators installed in motor vehicles. The assembly consists of two rings fitted on an insulated single or multi-part cylinder force-fitted onto the rotor shaft of the machine. The surface of the cylinder has three distinct steps, the two smaller diameter steps having axial slots cut into them which open out to form inverted T's. Both rings have 'L' shaped sections fitting over the step edges, the larger diameter ring having a connection lug fitting into the slot.
