Separation of particles of different specific weights - using centrifugal force to fractionate a gas suspension of the particles

The gas suspension is brought to a sepn. speed allowing the creation of two concentric layers, the inner one rich in the lighter particles and the outer one rich in heavier particles (this is called a module). the gaseous ring is made to cross a series of diaphragms which successively divide the module removing from the rotating gas the part containing the heavy particles, thus obtaining a progressive increase in the proportion of light particles.
