Regenerated cellulose filaments contain, as delusting agent 0.5-5.0% (On wt. of cellulose) of particles of styrene polymer obtd. from an emulsion of the polymer. The method of delusting is suitable for all types of regenerated cellulose, e.g. filaments of high wet modulus and ordinary staple and continuous - filament yarns. Styrene polymer is a much more effective delustrant than TiO2. Moreover, it does not adversely affect the handle of the filaments, which have a soft handle, are supple, and do not suffer abrasion in processing. The filaments are less readily degraded by light than TiO2-delustred filaments. The polymer does not affect the dyeing props. and is not removed by washing or dry-cleaning.
