The annular fender is suspended from a series of slender flexible poles in an inverted cone formation, and is for utilisation on deep sea mooring columns. A partic. application is at tanker filling posts at marine oil-fields. The column is mounted on a foundation pad of reinforced concrete or similar, and each pole extends from a socket in a column base flange. The axis of the cone coincides with that of the column and the fender is about the water. The column may be a circular hollow section and its base may also be located by a preformed socket in the base pad. Each pole may be a centrifugal metal casting, may step reduce progressively in dia. towards the top, and may traverse a clearance hole in the fender. The fender may be suspended from the head of each pole by tendem chains.
