The shelving unit consists of vertical uprights (1) supporting horizontal shelves (2), and joined together by means of key-hole shaped holes (3) in one surface of the uprights, (1), into which fit one edge of a notch in the shelf (2). The edge of the notch consists of the narrow part (5a) of a key-hole (5) which is upside down. Each key-hole (3) is cut into a thin wall (6) in the shelf and covering, at least partically, the surface of the upright, with the holes (3) in. Alternatively, the thin wall (6) of the shelf may have a right-angled recessed part covering one side of the upright perpendicular to its apertures surface part.
