Plant containers (4) are arranged on a sheet of plastics material (1) in straight lines which form an acute angle at their junction. Vertical stakes (2) at the end of each line are equidistant from one another along each edge of the sheet, the stakes at the opposed edges being staggered. Traverses (3) connect adjacent stakes at opposed edges of the sheet. Plant stems are tied to the traverses. Equal angles are maintained between adjacent lines of containers. Plants are watered from channel (6) via pipes (7, 8).
