Flame cutting machine for continuous casting plant - mounted on mobile frame running on single rail alongside casting track

On one side of the roller track carrying the cast billet or slab is a longitudinal rail along which a frame can be driven by a motor. In the middle of the frame is a vertical pivot mounting for a cantilever beam which can be moved on the pivot from a rest station to the working position above the cast slab. The cantilever beam carriers a work cylinder actuating a pair of tongs which grip the moving slab, so the beam and its frame can be driven at the same speed as the slab. The beam also carries two motors using cables to drive two burner carriers along the beam; the burners point downwards and travel transversely across the slab. The machine is located only on one side of the casting track so it does not impair access to the track. Two machines may be mounted between two tracks on a twin track casting machine.
