The maize cob leaf stripping table has several pairs of parallel horizontal rollers, those in pair turning in opposite directions. Brushes above the rollers thrust the cobs on the rollers from one end of them to the other, and comprise sets of spiders threaded onto shafts at right angles to the roller axes. The spiders(8) are in planes oblique to their axes of rotation(9). There can be one spider to each roller(7), their hubs being situated alternately on the vertical line passing through the point of contact between rollers in a pair(8a), and on that passing through the mid-point between adjacent rollers of different pairs and not in contact(8b).
