Hand-manipulated power ram for compacting soil - has reciprocating tamping plate and shaft guided by pairs of arms built into ring frames

A tamping plate and shaft are incorporated in a hande-manipulated power-rammer for compacting soils. They are guided on a reciprocating obliquely vertical trajectory by two pairs of guides at vertical intervals. The extremities of the guides in each pair are joined by transverse members to form ring frames with a high torsional stability. The unit has a housing and a motor which are mounted on the tamping shaft, the guides connecting the shaft to the motor. The frames may be approximately square and be in one piece, their disposition effecting differential lifting of opposite plate edges and causing the rammer to advance. The frames may lie in planes subtending an angle opening out towards the handle.
