Switch to operate vehicle alternator excitation circuit - has operating handle with spring return and fraction member in action to retard return movement

The vehicle battery circuit switch is used to open at alternator excitation circuit. It has a housing(1) on which are fixed the contacts(6) and a moving contact rod(8) worked by a return spring(10) connected to a handle. This handle can take two positions on the casing. One is an opening position and the other actuates spring compression and applies the rod carried contacts, closing the excitation circuit. The handle action carries a friction type flexible covering moving in a recess. This retards the return movement given by the spring and the consequent contact opening.
