The device is for automatic identification of transmission for tuners, portable and car radios, TV sets etc. Identification is based on the alphanumeric labelling of individual station transmissions using four or five letters to represent the station. Operation of a tuning knob(6) causes a display(4) to provide a readout of the station selected. Initially the readout is that of frequency which is then compared with those stored in a memory(7). When the comparator provides a zero output + or - some small margin the display provides an alphanumeric identification of the station.
