Control of a cyclic gas phase chromatography process is based on the comparison between a standard curve representing a first reference cycle, and a second curve representing a cycle of operation in progress. These are simultaneously viewed on a TV screen. The standard curve is stored in a memory, and plotted on the screen, while the second curve is plotted in real time. The associated circuity calculates the difference between the y-coordinates for the two curves, and the value (y2 - y1) is also displayed.
