The large dia cylindrical bale collector comprises a chassis adjustable (1) up and down on the vehicle actuators, and consisting of a first member (2) coupled to the vehicle and a second member (7) sliding in it. One or both members have a load support plate (11), and the other member has a cross-beam (15) above the level of the plate. The amount of sliding movement is such as, in one end position, to leave a space between the members at least equal to the dimensions of an item to be handled (12), and in the other to transfer it to the plate.
