The electrical component includes a suspension of electrical conducting particles, ferromagnetic or paramagnetic, in an insulating vector fluid. The concentration of particles in the fluid determines the relative conductivity of the suspension in the component. The electrical component has devices which form electrodes in contact with the suspension. It also has magnetic devices which form a magnetic field to concentrate the particles in the suspension. Application of the particle concentrating magnetic field between a pair of electrodes causes a reduction in electrical resistance between the electrodes.
