A shopping list is compiled from a piece of paper (3) which is unwound from a roll (4). The roll is suspended from a spindle (5) mounted between the sides (6) of a housing with flanged sides which guide the vertical edges of the paper. The roll is printed in regular lengths which carry the names of the articles to be purchased. The flanged sides are perforated, the pitch of the holes corresponding to the spacing of the printed articles. These holes are then used to guide a pin or rod so that the sheet can be perforated adjacent those articles which are to be purchased.
