The footwear (1) has a supple band (3) made of reflecting or non-reflecting material on which are installed optical elements such as catseye reflectors (4). The catseyes reflector (4) are made from a supple material and are stuck or sewn on the band. Various alternative arrangements of the catseyes (4) may be used. The reflectors may be placed on the side wall of a boot or on the heel to make the boot highly visible when illuminated by motor vehicle headlamps.
