Cap for thin walled container - is of channel shaped section with outer flange which is sealed to container opening

The cap has a peripheral sealing rib of channel shaped transverse section which is introduced into the opening in the container. The outer branch is extended by a peripheral flange which projects outwardly to be welded or sealed to the edge of the container opening. Between the branches is formed an annual rib and a wall of the cap is situated above this rib. A stacking bead connects the flange and or wall of the cap to the adjacent sealing rib.
