The pneumatic pressure-operable booster includes a valve mechanism (13e which controls the energisation of a working chamber. This mechanism is operable by a pedal-operable input member (8) which is arranged to act on an output member (10) upon failure of the booster. A force developed by energisation of the working chamber is applied to the output member (10) through a hydraulic connection (25) thus the post (7) which constitutes the working chamber can be mounted at any convenient location remote from the input member (8) and the output member (10) to facilitate installation in a limited space.
