The brake has a viscous fluid reservoir with a cover (12). A central revoling spindle (22) sits in an end bearing (24) and extends from the container. The spindle carries a plate (20) which is fixed at the base and a sliding plate (18) near the top. The plates are joined by the flexible cylinder (28). A fall in temperature causes the flexible cylinder to collapse and reduces the friction surface as the viscosity of the fluid increases.
