The silicone inplant fills a gap inside the human body, caused by the diminution of tissue volume e.g. shrinkage of muscles due to paralysis or congenital bone deficiency, it comprises a closed envelope with flexible wall filled with a pliable substance e.g. elastomeric silicone gel. It is oblong in shape, tapering from the central portion to each end (4). The envelope is not completely filled to increase its flexibility and to allow insertion through a relatively narrow incision. The pliability of the substance prevents unaesthetic ridges or projections showing through the surface of the skin when the inplant moves in conjunction with the adjacent muscles.
