The transformer has three parallel winding cores (9-11) arranged in a triangular prism, each carrying at least one winding (12-14). Their ends are connected by yokes (15, 16) lying in parallel planes. In order to vary the transformation ration a carriage (17) can move inside the windings (12-14), running on bare tracks (22-14) on the corresponding windings. The transformer windings are symmetrically disposed about a circular section rod (18) which is used to change the position of the carriage.
