Moving part erosive cavitation measurement for e.g. turbines - by immersing part in liq. contg. two electrodes with voltmeter across to measure variations in potential difference
Moving part erosive cavitation measurement for e.g. turbines - by immersing part in liq. contg. two electrodes with voltmeter across to measure variations in potential difference
Detection and measurement of erosive action of cavitation is performed by observing electrochemical effects on surface of electrode in the liq. This allows monitoring of moving parts such as turbines and valves. Reservoir (2) contains liq. (4) in which piece part (6) is immersed close to operating electrode (10) and remote from ref. electrode (8). Both the electrodes are connected to a voltmeter (12) which measures the potential difference between them. This may be effected by a voltmeter across a resistor (16) in series will auxiliary voltage supply (14). Variations in the foltage determine the effects of cavitation.
