The tap changer has a selector in the form of a cage with a lateral change-over switch. The latter consists of a lower and upper bracket, each connected to the respective cage rings. The brackets carry insulating rods with stationary change-over contacts. A switching shaft carrying the moving contacts is mounted in the brackets, while the polarising contacts serve for coupling of a middle tap of the stage coil to a given potential. The stationary polarising contacts are mounted on an additional insulating rod supported on the brackets, while the moving polarising contacts are mounted on a rod, held by two swing arms in the brackets. The latter engage control discs at the ends of the switching shaft, which are driven together with shaft.
