PURPOSE:To enable slag to be cheaply utilized as it is as a magnetic material by forming the slag as gamma-Fe2O3 in a hydrothermal metallurgical process for chromite. CONSTITUTION:When chromite is treated by a wet metallurgical method under high alkali and oxygen press. using a pipeline system continuous hydrothermal reactor, slag composed of hexavalent chromium and gamma-Fe2O3 is formed. Since this gamma-Fe2O3 has spinel-type structure, it can cheaply be utilized as it is as a base material for a magnetic tape, etc. in contradiction to conventional slag disposed.
