PURPOSE:To enable the flaw detecting in a hollow axle while installing pressed parts by inserting an ultrasonic probe with a contact catalyst in a hollow axle wherein the incidence of an ultrasonic wave is done from a probe in the internal circumference of the hollow axle by local immersion. CONSTITUTION:A front wall 2, holder 3 and rear wall 4 are inserted in an axle S. If any flaw exists in the axle S or around the external circumference, the ultrasonic wave is reflected by the flaw and the reflected wave is caught by the probe 30 and the detected flaw is displayed on the CRT of the main frame 5. The incidence of the ultrasonic wave is done from the circumference of the axle. Therefore, identification between the echoes by flaw and pressure is clearly performed and it is possible to detect the flaw while installing pressured parts.
