SILVERRLUSTER GLAZE

PURPOSE:To provide the title glaze contg. glaze free from lead and boric acid, and oxides of one or more kinds of metals of atomic no. 22-30 except Cu, and exhibiting superior appearance and weather resistance after calcination in a predetermined temp. range. CONSTITUTION:The silver-luster glaze contains about 30-70wt% of glaze contg. no Pb and no B practically, and about 0.5-50wt% of oxides of one or more kinds of metals selected from Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni. The glaze free from lead and boric acid may consist of, by wt., SiO2 35-70%, CaO and/or BaO 0-30%, Na2O and/or K2O 5-30% and Al2O3 0-30%. This silver-luster glaze is usually mixed with water and milled to form a slip, which is then glazed on a clay tile or the like to a predetermined thickness and calcined in an oxidizing atmosphere at about 900-1180 deg.C.
