PURPOSE:To provide a condensation heat transfer surface which is located on a steam passage and has the highest heat transfer performance for a working fluid, by making water collection grooves on the heat transfer surface and setting the center distance between the rounded corners of each groove at 3 mm or less. CONSTITUTION:The condensation heat transfer surface is provided for a plate or tube type steam condenser. The water collection grooves 2 are manufactured on the heat transfer surface 1. The radius R of curvature of each rounded corner of the water collection grooves is set at 3 mm or less. The center distance L between the rounded corners is also set at 3 mm or less. As a result, condensate portions caught on the upper and lower corners of each water collection groove 2 join each other, namely, the entire surface of the groove is covered with the condensate. Therefore, a large quantity of condensate is collected and drained. This improves the condensation heat transfer performance.
