ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA heterogeneous specific binding assay method and testmeans for the simultaneous determination of each of a plur-ality of different ligands (e.g., antibodies, antigens orhaptens) in a single liquid test sample. The assay mayfollow any conventional technique of a heterogeneous type,i.e., which includes a separation of a bound-species from afree-species form of the labeled reagent. The combined assayis accomplished by using solid-phase binding agents for therespective ligands to be determined which are differentiallyseparable from each other, thereby permitting the use of asingle label rather than a different label for each ligandto be determined. The assay is particularly suited to thesimultaneous determination of different antibodies, particu-larly antibodies to different viral antigens, in a singleserum sample.
