PURPOSE:To ensure that a work machine can move smoothly toward a leader sliding means and thereby to facilitate the length adjustment by providing an adjusting means near the joint portion between a leader lower member and a leader upper expansion member and slidably fitting a leader sliding means to the expansion member. CONSTITUTION:An expansion-type leader is provided with a leader lower member 4 having a guide member 3 for moving a monkey 2 up and down. The lower member 4 is formed to be hollow, in which one end of a leader upper expansion member 7 is inserted. The inserted end of the expansion member 7 is fitted with an engagement piece 8, the piece 8 is formed with a through-hole 9 as a length adjusting means, and through-holes 10 corresponding to the through-hole 9 are formed in the peripheral wall of the lower member 4. A leader sliding means 17 is slidably fitted to the extension of the expansion member 7.
