PURPOSE:To facilitate, and reduce the cost of, earth retaining work by a method wherein the upright member portion at one end of an angle section is folded by 90 deg. to form a contact piece, the other end is provided with an anchor piece and a contact piece in a similar manner, to form a connection member, and a plurality of the connection members are combined with U-shaped sections. CONSTITUTION:An angle bar 3 having a vertical rib 1 and a horizontal rib 2 is formed at its one end with a cut along its corner and the vertical rib portion above the cut is bent laterally by 90 deg. to form a contact piece 4. The rib 1 of the bar 3 is formed at the other end with a cut perpendicular to its edge, and the cut end portion is bent down by 180 deg. through the opposite side of the rib 2 to form an anchor piece 5; further, a cut is formed along the edge, and the portion above the cut is bent by 90 deg. to form another contact piece 6. Thus, a connecting member 7 is formed. Plural connecting members 7 are connected together in longitudinal direction to form an angle bar. Plural angle bars are arranged askew on a slope face 10, channel bars 11 are set in the groove-shaped portions between the contact pieces 4 and 6, and fixed in situ by bolts 17, then filling is conducted to complete earth retaining work.
