Moulded mass contg. expanded thermoplastic granules mfr. - used for light cements, plasters and mortars resistant to heat, sound, humidity, and fire propagation

A moulded mass, contg. expanded thermoplastic granules mixed with an inorganic binder, is prepd. in one stage from the expanded granules, mixed with water, water-sol. resins and the binder, the mixt. being cast in a mould where it solidifies. The water-sol. resins, which are used in concns. of 0.005-5 kg/m3 of final prod., are pref. vinyl, acrylic or cellulosic resins, or copolymers or mixts. thereof. Organic and inorganic auxiliaries may be added to them. The binder is (i) cement, with sand or gravel, if the final prod. is a light cement or (ii) plaster if the final prod. is a light plaster. It may include granular or fibrous fillers. The prod. are used in light moulded masses, concretes and plasters. Process enables the mixts. to be prepd. in a single operation. The prods. provide good heat and sound insulation, and resistance to humidity and to propagation of fire.
