Device comprises a crescent-shaped drug-contg. body which (a) is planar and rigid relative to the tissue defining the upper fornix, so that it assumes a tangential position vis-a-vis the eyeball; (b) is 1-2 mm. thick; (c) has a concave edge for seating on the arc of the superior border of the upper tarsal plate; (d) is linear in cross-section; and (e) has ends that are rounded. The insert has immobile in the eye, yet comfortable and less likely to be expelled involuntarily than inserts designed to be mobile.
