A weighing instrument enables weight of food to be measured directly on a scale. For dietetic purposes and particularly for diabetics who need to know sugar content other scales are provided to indicate nutritive values which are proportional to weight indicated. A weighing instrument has a platform to receive food being weighed. A pointer indicates weight on a graduated scale. A support also indicates dietetic quantities for various food categories. This support comprises an endless band passing over rollers which are controlled by user control knob to set required scales.
