One piece (10) of the hinge joint is let in on one (12) of two elements, being connected; a second piece (11) is bent, with one shank for fitting to the second element (13) and another shank for insertion in a cavity (26) in the first piece, with end (24) hinged connection to allow both pieces to swivel about a hinge spindle let into part of the first. A resiliently movable slide (27) is provided on the first piece. This acts in conjunction with part (29) of the second piece, so that on approach to a certain swivel position in relation to the first piece, the second is moved towards this position. This obviates any need for magnetic locks or other special fittings to hold hinged cupboard or other doors in position.
