Removing deposits, esp. calcium sulphate, from heat-exchanger surfaces - with water contg. alpha-hydroxy-acid or salt and surfactant, esp for de-salination plant
Deposits contg. CaSO4 are removed from the heat-exchange surfaces of a water evaporator by adding an alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid (pref. glycolic or citric acid) or a water-sol. salt of this acid, and a nonionic or anionic surfactant to the water which comes into contact with these surfaces. The evaporator is esp. part of a desalination plant for producing drinking water from sea water.
