The sealing sleeve (10) has a slightly conical exterior surface, made in one piece with a flanged end (12). Near the junction of sleeve and flange, a rounded annular projection (17) is formed. The flanged end has conical surfaces (12', 12"). A tube is inserted in a coupling sleeve and the conical part of the sealing sleeve is inserted in the tube. When the other half of the joint is screwed into the coupling sleeve the sealing sleeve is gradually forced into the tube. The annular projection bells out the tube and in so doing is itself pushed inwards, forming a reinforcement. Further tightening of the joint clamps the belled out tube end between the flanged end (12) and the coupling sleeve.
