ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A hydrophilic polyacetal-RESUL both the reaction: (I) a mixture M consisting of (1) 20 to 60% by weight of product A of reacting a phthalic acid, its anhydride or one of its diesters with at least one saturated diol molecular weight less than 300, Product whose hydroxyl number is between 150 and 500 and whose acid number is less than 2, and (2) 80 to 40% by weight of a compound B of the general formula R- (OCxH2x) - OH wherein R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical containing less than 20 carbons, x is 2, 3 or 4 and n is an integer such that the molecular weight is between 300 and 10,000 or a mixture of the compound B with up to 50% by weight of a compound C of general formula dan wherein R 'and R "are identical or different alkyl radicals containing less than 5 carbon atoms or the benzyl radical and X? is a halide or methylsulfate, (II) with a number of moles of aldehyde at least equal to half the total number of hydroxyl func-tions in the mixture M. the polyacetal according to the invention is used in particular as antiredeposition agent and antifouling textile fibers.
