REAGENT AND METHOD FOR TBG ASSAYAbstract of the DisclosureThe concentration of thyroxine binding globulin (TBG) in a fluidsample can be determined via radioassay technique with an immunochemicalcomposite comprising anti-TBG antibodies immobilized on a water-insolublecarrier. The composite is incubated with the sample in a quantity suf-ficient to assure complexation of substantially all TBG in the sample tothe antibodies of the composite. The quantity of TBG completed isdetermined with radiolabeled thyroxine (T4) which complexes with atleast a portion of the complexed TBG. By separating the labeled compositefrom the remaining labeled T4, and counting the bound (or unbound) T4,the concentration of TBG can be determined from a standard curve.
