A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING THEAXIAL POWER DISTRIBUTION WITHIN THE COREOF A NUCLEAR REACTOR, EXTERIOR OF THE REACTORABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method and apparatus for establishing the axialflux distribution of a reactor core from monitored responsesobtained exterior of the reactor. The monitored responsesare obtained from at least three axially spaced flux res-ponsive detectors that are positioned within proximity ofthe periphery of the reactor core. The detectors providecorresponding electrical outputs representative of the fluxmonitored. The axial height of the core is figurativelydivided at a plurality of space coordinates sufficient toprovide reconstruction in point representation of the rela-tive flux shape along the core axis. The relative value offlux at each of the spaced coordinates is then establishedfrom a sum of the electrical outputs of the detectors,respectively, algebraically modified by a correspondingpreestablished constant.
