QUARTONFORMETHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING HARD COPYRECORDS OF CURVES INCLUDING CURVES WHICHARE MATHEMATICALLY DESCRIBED AS MULTI-FUNCTIONSFROM PERIODICALLY SAMPLED DATA POINTSABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA line scan cathode ray tube (CRT) recorder generatesa hard copy record of a curve from stored data represent-ing the X-Y coordinates of a series of a sample pointsalong the curve. The curve may be described mathemati-cally by a multi-valued function. One pass of therecording media past a linear sweeping CRT beam recordsthe entire curve in a predetermined number of recordingsweeps. The distance (.DELTA. X and .DELTA. Y, respectively) betweeneach and every Xn, Yn and the next successive storedsample point Xn+1, Yn+1 is determined prior to eachrecording sweep of the beam and these distances, .DELTA. X and.DELTA. Y, are divided by a predetermined number to give afactor interpolating the distance between successivelystored data points (Xn and Xn+1 and Yn and Yn+1).Each recording sweep of the beam represents a band (in theX-axis direction, for example) on the recording media offinite width extending from one recording sweep positionup to, but not including, the next recording sweepposition. The X-Y coordinates of each sample point aresuccessively incremented by the interpolative value and , respectively, where "n" equals the number ofinterpolative steps. The Y-axis coordinate positions ofthe interpolative value are stored correspond-ing to the interpolative X-axis coordinate positions within the finite band to be recorded. As thebeam sweeps along a given X-axis position, it records ashort line for each stored Y-axis position.Subject matter disclosed in this application but notclaimed herein is disclosed and claimed in my priorapplication bearing Serial No. 627,794, filed October 31,1975.- 2 -
