ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A new material usable as anion exchangers to set biologi-cal macromolecules or low molecular weight substances. The material according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a support consisting of a porous inorganic oxide having an inner surface less than or equal to 100 m2 / g and a pore diameter greater than or equal to 25 nm, the support being directly coated on its surface with a poly-saccharide polymeric carrier amine of positive charges; this polymer has a molecular weight greater than or equal to 104 daltons. The material according to the invention is particularly useful for the purification or separation of biological macromolecules, particularly proteins.
