The invention relates to a process for improving the effect of antifouling paints by a controlled adjustment of the exit velocity of the toxins from the paint. This is accomplished by applying a layer of a specific epoxy resin. This system is incomplete crosslinked upon application and hardens slowly final after application. The antifouling effect is fully retained a surprisingly long time.
